HISTORABLES: Marie Ant-toinette to be the first of many apps with
Historically-based characters aimed at children ages 3 – 6

Los Angeles, CA, July 31, 2012 – Base Camp Films announces the launch of its new line of apps for kids. Based on adorable historically-based children’s characters known as the Historables, the first app will be available in the iTunes Store on August 1, 2012. The app, entitled Historables: Marie Ant-toinette, will feature a female ant character that lives in a castle. Players will experience innovative full motion character animation supported by charming story and great music. They will help Marie bake and decorate a cake, set up a room in the castle, and navigate treacherous underground ant tunnels. The app will be free to download and play, with additional game content available as an in-app purchase. The app is expected to be available for the Android market later this summer.

Key elements of the Historables:

The creator of the Historables, Brady Connell wanted to provide entertainment, but also encourage early childhood development and provide fun facts. “We thought there had to be a way to introduce the concept of history to young kids in a fun and entertaining way so they don’t have to wait until college to appreciate it,” Connell said. “When kids finally learn about the real historical figures, maybe they will be a little more familiar and interesting.”

As a parent, Base Camp CEO, Jim Jusko, was enthralled with the opportunity to build a delightful and inspired property that offered engaging, educational, interactive experiences for children. “Since a large percentage of young children use digital media on a regular basis – and the trend is only growing – we all need more quality alternatives to help our children grow and thrive,” Jusko said.

Historables: Marie Ant-toinette received a successful launch on Kickstarter in June 2012. The next app in the series, Historables: Spaniel Boone is planned for release in September 2012.
